Evaluation: Question 5 (Answer)

Our target audience enjoys mystery so we created lots of questions that wouldn't have been answered until later on. As they enjoy TV shows like Monk etc. we made sure there was a chance for them to try to guess what happened by going back in time. They would ask questions like who is the lady? Why is she dead? Who are the men?

As the target audience enjoy Rock "n" Roll Indie type of music we decided to use a local indie band. This would attract the audience and hopefully make the film easy to remember. The band which we used was the band of the leading man. This could interest the target audience, because they are slightly-nerdy they would probably research the band. This again would cause the film to stick in their minds.

As the target audience is male, we decided to add a factor of danger and action. Men are usually attracted to films with lots of action so we decided to show a gun early on in the film.

We gave the film an old feel to it as the target audience enjoy old films. We decided to make it black and white and use old techniques like using blinds and big shadows. We also added a modern twist this should attract the audience more to the red and interest them more as it is slightly different.

The person we interviewed said he would like to continue watching the film as the story was left open and they was lots of questions. This is what we wanted from the target audience, as it was the opening of a film we wanted them to be interested enough to want to know who and why they killed the lady by leaving the story open. Another member of the target audience from Facebook said he liked the shots where the camera was a point of view shot that suggested someone was following them and watching them in the office.

  1. This is fine, but did you do any other audience research - e.g. on your Facebook group|? Can you comment specifically on anything Andy said?
